XR Protests
London, April and September 2019
In 2019, Extinction Rebellion organised two of the largest acts of non-violent civil disobedience in modern British history. Thousands of protesters occupied roads, bridges and public spaces across central London, calling on the UK government to take urgent action on the climate and ecological crisis. The demonstrations helped bring climate change to the centre of public debate and inspired similar movements around the world. More than 1,000 arrests in the April action alone.
